Sheogorath, okay, I get it, they are overprotective. Sometimes it's a good thing, but I feel like it's also a way to control people. She should be able to make her own decisions and chose who to have coffee with.

How old is she? Your profile states you're 25 - is that true? =) Because if your friend is 25 as well, and she needs a permission from her parents to go out and enjoy a hot beverage with her friends, that's a problem.

My friend is 23 ^_^ She's stuck with her parents for now, because she's still working on her medical degree, no room for a part-time job. Also, the thing got awkward through years. Her relatives were less protective 5-7 years ago. They just didn't have the urge to interrupt her life like that back then.

Yes, I'm 25, but, aside from my romantic partner, I don't have friends of same age. Everybody's either older or a little bit younger. Are your friends mostly the same age as you? I mean - exactly the same age, counting 1,5-2 year gap as a difference.

Sheogorath, I feel really bad that your friend is being guarded by her parents. It's a great thing that she's pursuing a medical degree, which is an enormous challenge. However, it does often mean the absence of time and ability to find a part-time job. Which means that such students get dependent on their parents financially.

But she's supposed to work an a medical resident eventually, right? And it's paid, is it not?

My friends are all over the place age-wise. :crazy: Thanks to this forum I have friends as young as 12 years of age. I also have lots of older friends in real life, I met those guys at previous work places. My oldest friend is 65-ish years old.

I hate lying. Like, to anyone. And don't really know how to do that. Of course, sometimes there is no choice, but honesty is the best policy after all.

At present I try to avoid lying altogether. It gets you nowhere. And it's so exhausting cause you have to remember every lie not to get busted. With my memory its not a problem, but still. And I hate when people lie and then don't remember it. Like when I see that somebody is lying because the person was telling a different story the other day, I remember it, but this person doesn't.
